Editorial Reviews:
The Scott's classic reel mower is light, maneuverable, and economical. The business end of this push reel mower is solid, sharp, and everything a reel mower should be, with five heat-treated, knife-sharp steel blades that can be adjusted for nine grass heights with very easy wheel tabs. With its 10-inch wheels, radial tires, and 20-inch cutting width, this mower should enable you to cross whatever terrain and reach whatever hard-to-access rogue patches of grass you desire. There's no soft cushion on the handle, which is too bad, but otherwise, the Scotts Classic is a durable, well-constructed, simple device.

Throw Away Your Gas Mower

This is a nice mower. It cuts the grass effortlessly with a clean cut.

My gas mower on the other hand seems to scalp the grass with an uneven cut causing trauma that causes it to dry out and loose moisture near the cut.

This reel mower can be push along effortlessly and does a great job. No gas needed and is clean for the environment and with no noise. You can cut grass early Sunday morning without waking up the neighbors.

It does not cut tall weeds.

Mows like a champ, handle could be a tad sturdier

My brother kindly left my Craftsman gas mower behind his garage for 2 years to slowly wither while I lived it up in NYC. After coming back down South and bringing my red buddy home, it performed a final mow then died like Argos.
After trying to resuscitate the poor thing with gas, oil, plug, etc I realized that there must be an easier way to find a faithful companion for lawn maintenance. It dawned on me that the old farts from the time of dinosaurs did it right the first time. This little time machine mows like a champ, is easy to handle, is pretty light, and took about 10 minutes to unpack and get mowing. My only gripe is that the handle feels flimsy when you turn the thing around, but nobody is perfect.
This mower is safe for flip flops, drinking beer, and best of all, it does not fling Argos poo when you run over it.
By the way, the grass part of my Georgia clay yard is 75 x 50 and basically flat, though it gets a little steeper after a couple beers.

MY RATE FOR THE MFG.

We ordered the Scotts 20-inch Classic Push Reel Lawn Mower because my wife could handle it where I was no longer able to go with heavier equipment.

The mower came in defective. The company immediately sent me another and paid to have the original returned for inspection. Can't ask for more than this.

We enjoy the new machine which works as expected. It is a pleasure to use it as in our original intent. It is a nice feeling to own an American Made mower.

We love this mower! We've been using it for 6 weeks now, and have found that we don't miss the gasoline mixing, loud noises from the gas powered mower, or the exhaust one bit. Yes, this mower is a little more work to push, but it is good exercise and I think much better for my body (and ears) than holding on to a vibrating machine for extended periods of time. I've found a can of WD40 helps get this mower going smoothly after it sits for a week or so. Buy this and enjoy the exercise, the clean air, and the quiet!

I love this mower.

I bought this mower in February for my 1/4 acre lot in the Pacific Northwest. It is a treat to use.

We moved into our first home with a yard last winter and I was unexcited about having to buy and store gas for a mower. I found this reel mower on Amazon on sale for $99 -- such a great purchase. I'm 5'4", my husband's 5'11", and we both find it easy to manuever both while mowing and while carting it from front lawn to back. I find that mowing in neat rows doesn't work very efficiently for me, so I tend to attack the lawn from all different angles. My husband mows in straight lines. We're both happy with the results. I love the height adjusting feature. And it's a stylish, elegant little thing that stores well in the garage.

Apparently there was a batch last winter that was drilled with an incorrect bit. After about 16 uses, the back right wheel fell off. We called Scotts and they mailed us a free replacement. Five days later we were back in business, and it's been working well since.
